Geography is such an important subject. It is the study of Earth’s landscapes, peoples, places and environments, past, present and future. It is, quite simply, about the world in which we live.
In this course, you will work your way through six modules which follow the English National Curriculum, using the geog.3 textbook and a range of other resources - web pages, videos, worksheets and quizzes - within the course. The course also links to a wealth of resources on Kerboodle Links to an external site.* (videos, animations, worksheets) which will truly enhance your learning experience. You will also have the opportunity to complete online tests for every topic. Through the topic work and varied assignments, you will develop a wide range of geographical skills, such as map and graph work, decision-making and extended writing.
During your course, you will learn a lot about Geography that is fascinating and useful. By the end of the Year 9 course, you should have developed your knowledge and understanding of:
- Places and People: you will have developed your knowledge of a wide range of locations around the world, and their key physical and human
characteristics, with a particular focus, this year, on Russia and the Middle East. - Processes: you will have a wider understanding of the human and physical processes that shape our world and bring about change, for example –
how the rock cycle works, how earthquakes and volcanoes occur and why the jobs people do are changing. - Geographical Skills: you will have practised and improved at a wide range of skills, including map work, graphical analysis, and evaluating data, with a particular focus on fieldwork.
