Introduction

Welcome to our Cambridge IGCSE English Literature course. This guide explains how the course is structured, how your work will be assessed and how to get the most out of your studies, so please read it carefully before you start.

This course leads you step-by-step through the syllabus using your coursebook, set texts, video links, worksheets and assignments, so that by the end you will feel confident and ready to show off all you’ve learnt in your IGCSE exam.

As you work through the ten modules, you will learn a lot about English literature that’s fascinating and useful. The ability to read, interpret and evaluate texts will add greatly to your understanding of English language and culture. By exploring the writings of others, you will engage with wider and universal issues, promoting a better understanding of the world around you.

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • recognise and analyse the ways writers achieve a range of effects;
  • read, evaluate and interpret a variety of different texts;
  • clearly articulate well-informed personal responses to these texts.
