Topic Three (1.3): Biological Molecules
Introduction
In this topic, you need to learn the building blocks of the different biological molecules: proteins are made up of amino acids, fats are made of glycogen and fatty acids and so on. You may find it useful to make a table that includes all of this information for your revision. You also need to be able to describe specific biochemical tests and the results you would expect for a positive and negative result.
The following key areas are covered in this topic:
- Carbohydrates and How to Test for Them
- Fats and How to Test for Them
- Proteins and How to Test for Them
Topic Three is broken down into the following study sessions:
Session One (1.3.1): Carbohydrates
Session Three (1.3.3): Proteins
