Session One (1.1.1): Seven Characteristics

Introduction

All living organisms can carry out seven key processes. These are sometimes referred to as the processes of life. You need be able to state and define each of the seven characteristics shared by all living organisms.

Reading

Read through and make notes on page 2 of your coursebook.

Tasks

Make a mind map summarising the characteristics of a living organism. Make sure you include a brief explanation of each of the seven characteristics.

Note that you need to learn the definitions found at the top of page 2.

Review

Test your recall of the definitions of the key terms on page 2: make a list of key words and for each key word write a brief outline of the definition for the term. Can you do this without looking at the definitions in the coursebook?
