Session Two (1.3.2): Osmosis and Concentration Gradients

Introduction

The next subject is osmosis. You should be able to define osmosis and understand that it is only related to water. It is very important that you refer to water potential, rather than just "osmosis", when discussing the movement of water, especially in plants. You may be asked to apply this knowledge to unfamiliar situations in examination questions. Remember to always state the direction of water movement in relation to water potential.
