PHONICS SAMPLE COURSE
Welcome to this sample Wolsey Hall Phonics course.
SELECTING THE RIGHT COURSE FOR YOUR CHILD
We've designed the course to follow a systematic approach to teaching children synthetic phonics. It teaches children to hear, identify, and use different sounds that distinguish one word from another in the English language. It helps children to read more fluently and spell with greater accuracy.
This course is designed for students entering Wolsey Hall in either Year 2 or Year 3 on the English or English as a Second Language course. Additionally, it may benefit students who completed Year 1 English with Wolsey Hall but require additional Phonics revision.
This course is designed for children and parents to work through independently. A Wolsey Hall tutor is not needed for this course.
During the enquiry process, you will speak with a member of our admissions team. They will be able to advise you about course selection depending on your individual circumstances.
We've outlined the key ways you can support your child on the course here.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The full Phonics course consists of 3 Parts. Each Part of the course is divided into three units of twenty lessons.
You can see an overview of the learning covered in each Part here:
Part 1 Download Part 1 | Part 2 Download Part 2 | Part 3 Download Part 3 |
Each lesson includes the plan and resources to cover the learning material. How you work through these lessons is up to you and your child: you may wish to split the lessons into shorter sections of learning depending on your child's attention length. Every child is different so we've designed the course to be flexible and geared to the individual needs of your child.
This course does not include assignments and you are not allocated a Tutor.
This course is a self-study course in Phonics.
