Topic Four (0.4): Drawing
Why is Drawing Important?
Drawing is at the heart of art and design and forms a key part of your practice as an Art and Design International GCSE student. Drawing can come under all four of the Assessment Objectives and you will need to show your drawings as part of your submissions for both Components 1 and 2.
You can demonstrate this skill by:
- making observation drawings - these could be quick sketches or longer drawings;
- drawing to show your ideas - these can be quick sketches or thumbnail drawings;
- using drawing material to explore your ideas using mark-making in appropriate media;
- experimenting with and exploring different drawing materials;
- researching drawing styles by looking at the work of other artists and designers who use drawing in their work;
- investigating, through the use of different drawing media, new ways of expressing your ideas, feelings or observations;
- trying out various tools, materials and techniques.
