What Does This Course Cover?
This Fine Art course incorporates the following areas of study:
- Drawing
- Lens-/Light-based media
- Mixed Media
- Printing
- Painting
- Sculpture
The course covers two years of study and is divided into thirteen modules, seven in year one and six in year two.
In Year One you will study:
- Module Zero: an interactive introduction to the International GCSE course, including a quiz to help you recap on prior art study and to let your tutor understand how confident you feel as you start this course.
- Modules One and Two: a small personal project entitled ‘This Is Me’ in which you will practise and develop your skills and techniques.
- Modules Three to Five: work begins on your ePortfolio, choosing a theme from a list provided by Wolsey Hall, practising and developing work and eventually curating an ePortfolio for submission to the exam board in year two.
- Module Six: a mock exam for the ePortfolio submission, followed by a review video call with your tutor to discuss feedback and progress.
In Year Two you will study:
- Modules Seven and Eight: continue work on your ePortfolio.
- Module Nine: your externally-set assignment theme is announced on 2nd Jan and this module forms the preparatory work in response to this theme.
- Module Ten: your externally-set assignment will be done during a ten-hour remote-invigilated exam.
- Module Eleven: you return to work on your ePortfolio, refining it ahead of formal submission.
- Module Twelve: complete your personal project in your ePortfolio and submit it to the exam board.

Introduction

Watch
In this section you will find videos that provide teaching on the area of focus. You will want to watch these several times as you master the techniques being demonstrated.
Tasks
Where you see this icon, you will find suggested activities that will help to develop your understanding of this topic.
Work Session
Activities set out under the Work Session icon could be selected for the portfolio component of the GCSE qualification. Therefore, these activities must be recorded as evidence. We also ask for time stamped photos of the workspace taken before and after the completion of the activity. The timelapse video and the two photographs will be needed to be uploaded via the Check In template.
