Introduction

Welcome to your Wolsey Hall Guide to the Cambridge IGCSE History course. Please take the time to read carefully through this guide. It will explain how the course is structured, how to get the most out of the course and how your work will be assessed. At the end of this guide you will find the Programme of Study for the course which shows how the course links to the CAIE syllabus. 

This course will lead you step-by-step through the syllabus by way of video links, quizzes, assignments and, of course, the Coursebook so that by the end you are confident and keen to enter the exam to show off all you have learnt.

History is everywhere! It is part of our identity, part of our culture and a window into our future.  Having historical knowledge is considered a great asset- you will be able to make links between past events and link with the present, you can chart and predict, and you can see patterns and themes. The IGCSE History course will also give you skills that are considered essential for a top career. Law and banking firms will love the skills of analysis that the study of history gives you while top graduate firms appreciate the critical evaluation you will offer as well as the fact you can prioritise and assess significance. Most important, you will gain a love for a wonderful subject which will gain you a broad understanding of the modern times you are experiencing and the confidence to take self directed learning.
